The Power of Disruption: How Dr. Maurice Lucre Found His Path

Not every life-changing moment feels like an opportunity. Sometimes, it feels like a setback. For Dr. Maurice Lucre, it started with an injury.
A high school football injury—unexpected, frustrating, and unwelcome—forced him into a world he hadn’t planned to explore: physical therapy. What began as recovery soon became revelation. “Unlike a lot of other practices in medicine, I love that you can get to see people’s progress.” That single experience didn’t just heal his body. It reshaped his future.
Before the injury, Maurice knew he wanted to work in healthcare—but like many young people, he hadn’t yet found his lane. It was through the hands-on, human-centered nature of physical therapy that something clicked.
That clarity carried him forward to earn a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and ultimately a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Now he serves others by providing an environment of inclusivity for holistic care.
