SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (CBS 58)-- PGA of America invited some special students to get a sneak peek of Whistling Straits ahead of the Ryder Cup.

The Ryder Cup tees off on Friday at Whistling Straits in Sheboygan. PGA Works hosted its Beyond the Green event for MKE Fellows on Monday.

"I'm graduating, going to be in business, so I got to get my swing back working," Kaleb Tatum, a MKE fellow, said.

Working on his golf swing and his resume, the Marquette senior toured the course and sat in on panels featuring a range of speakers, including Milwaukee Bucks President Peter Feigin.

"It kind of really just opened my mind up to different opportunities that I have," Tatum said.

That's exactly what PGA was hoping the fellows would walk away with.

"Golf is much more than playing it, teaching it or having to know a lot about it," PGA Works Program Lead Rachel Mabee said. "There are such a myriad of opportunities that exist within this sport."

No matter what industry these students choose, it's very possible PGA has an internship, fellowship or full-time job ready for them.

"Eighty-four billion-dollar industry translates to a lot of jobs. Where this event really plays a really critical role is introducing what those type of opportunities are," Mabee said.

Fellows like Tatum are ready to take a swing at those opportunities.

"I'm honestly overwhelmed. Like, it's really beautiful, and I'm just really glad it's in my home state of Wisconsin. So, I'm really just looking forward to enjoying this week," Tatum said.

Practice begins on Tuesday. The Ryder Cup officially tees off on Friday.
