MKE Fellows initiative receives grant from NBA Foundation

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- MKE Fellows, a leadership initiative working to prepare African American youth in Milwaukee for successful careers, just received a major grant Wednesday.

The NBA Foundation awarded 34 organizations with grants totaling $16.4 million, all going towards supporting Black youth.

At Wednesday's event in Milwaukee, one MKE Fellows alum expressed his appreciation for the program, a program he now helps lead.

"The Fellows helped me see the fellows in a new way. It's great to be working for the org and work alongside fellow alums who are passionate about opening the doors for guys coming in after us."

The MKE Fellows program now boasts of more than 185 collegiate scholars including grads from HBCUs and the Ivy League.

CBS 58 is a proud sponsor of the Annual Fellowship Golf Tournament.
